My Superstars!

When I purchased two retro patio chairs off of Craigslist, I was thrilled to add them to my collection.  Although they were a little worn…I thought the finish actually added character and the color really caught my eye.

Despite the weathered finish, I had many inquiries from coast to coast.  It was the shipping fee that turned most people away, but they sold quickly (and profitably) with a delivery address of “Bungalow” at the Fairmont Miramar, just a few blocks away!  I dropped them at the loading dock, and wondered where they were headed.

Fast forward a few months, I was reminiscing and decided to search around a little to see if I could find my long-lost chairs.  That is when I saw one of my rusty retro rockers, proudly sitting front and center (kind of) at the newest hangout in Santa Monica, The Bungalow.

It sounds like The Bungalow has been well received, with a Yelp reviewer saying “When i walked through the door and stepped on the grass it reminded me of a house I rented in Baja.  You walk past the ping-pong table with the string lights painting stars in the sky.  The classic furniture and rustic beachy vibe was a breath of fresh air for Los Angeles.”

It’s so nice to know that they went to a good home where they will continue to rust from the salt water air, and I can go visit any time!

Happy Hour, anyone?

Logo Love

Logo Love

Chair To Spare has been in the making for quite some time, especially the name and logo which were tossed around a bit before becoming what it is today.

Would you believe that the first “genius” idea was to call it “Hidden Fleas”…get it?!

…Now that I look back, neither do I, but that flea could have been so darn cute!

Next, there were sketches and several unsuccessful attempt with a blog designer.

Finally, my good friend and oh so talented designer, Ryan Goodman, came to the rescue, giving Chair to Spare the look it has today.

It was love at first sight, and I wouldn’t change a thing, which is why I recently slapped it on a bunch of “useful” household items, thanks to an extra-large Groupon for Vistaprint.

It was fun to go on a mini-shopping spree (lots to choose from, and impressive customer service!), and I now feel especially inspired as I sip my morning coffee!

Palm Springs Minus Mid-Century

Palm Springs Minus Mid-Century

I was blessed with an impromptu Palm Springs getaway over the weekend.

To me, Palm Springs means mid-century house tours, furniture shopping and yoga.  This time was a little different, as I forced myself to stay put on a lounge chair and really get the most out of the downtime.
