Although it was designed in 1958, the Eames Aluminum Group Outdoor Collection was reintroduced by Herman Miller in 2012, making it new to me!
It seems to be less known then the indoor “icon of mid-century modern design” version, but it was actually designed first for the home of industrialist, J. Irwin Miller in Columbus, Indiana.
Very similar to the indoor collection, the outdoor collection is available in Graphite and White powder coat base finishes with outdoor weave fabric. The lightweight die-cast aluminum base, makes them look good, and easy to move around.
As recipient of the ICFF Editors Awards in the Outdoor Furniture category in 2011, I know we will be seeing more of this collection!

As much as I love those chairs, I gotta say I don’t think they look that great outside. Maybe its just because I’m not used to seeing them outside, but they look like office chairs still. It doesn’t look like I could relax at that table.
